Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we get asked most. If yours isn't covered here, tell us through the contact link in the footer — real questions tend to be more specific than the ones we think of ourselves, and often turn into the next entry on this page.
About the tools
Do the tools cost anything? Do I need an account?
Everything is free and there is no sign-up. The site has no accounts, no paywall and no usage caps — open any tool page and start working.
How many tools are there?
Over two hundred at the moment, across a dozen categories: encoding, formatting, text, images, developer utilities, design and calculations. The counter on the home page and the All tools page is live, so trust it over this paragraph.
Which browsers are supported?
Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all work. A few tools rely on newer browser capabilities such as Canvas, Web Crypto or the File System Access API; on older browsers they will say so or degrade gracefully rather than fail silently.
Do they work on a phone?
Yes. The layout adapts to phone widths and input, copy and download all work. A few side-by-side tools, such as the dual-pane formatter, stack vertically on narrow screens without losing any functionality.
Can I use them offline?
After a page has loaded once, purely client-side tools usually keep working without a connection because the browser has cached the scripts. The site is not installable for offline use, though, so a refresh or first visit still needs the network. Tools marked as server-side always do.
Data and privacy
Is what I type uploaded anywhere?
Most tools run entirely in your browser, so what you type never leaves your device — the fact that they keep working with the network off is the simplest proof. A small number, such as those needing server-side rendering or heavy conversion, run on the server; those pages are explicitly labelled at the top.
How long are uploaded files kept?
Files received by server-side tools, and the results they produce, are temporary. They enter the cleanup queue as soon as processing finishes and are kept for no longer than 24 hours. Download links carry a one-time token and cannot be enumerated.
Do you track how I use the site?
No behavioural profiling, and no third-party advertising or analytics scripts. Like any website, the server keeps basic access logs (IP, time, request path) for debugging and abuse prevention; these are not linked to what you entered.
Where are my favourites stored?
In your own browser's local storage. They are never uploaded or synced, which also means they disappear if you switch browsers or clear site data. That is how local storage works, not a bug.
Usage and limits
Is there a file size limit?
Yes, and it varies. Client-side tools are bounded by browser memory — tens of megabytes is comfortable — while server-side tools enforce an explicit request size cap. The exact number is stated on each tool page, and exceeding it produces a clear message rather than a silent failure.
Can I process files in bulk?
Some do — image compression and format conversion, for instance, accept multiple files at once and say so on the page. The rest handle one at a time.
Can I use the output as-is?
For everyday use, yes. For anything involving money, law or safety, verify it yourself: the tools implement general rules and cannot know the regulations of your region or industry. Tax, social security and document formats differ by jurisdiction, so treat those results as a reference.
Feedback and corrections
What if a result is wrong?
Please tell us, and include three things if you can: what you entered (a redacted sample is fine), what you expected, and what you got. With those three, most issues can be pinpointed in a single round.
Can I request a new tool or a change?
Most welcome. Describing the task you want to accomplish is far more useful than describing the button you want, because the same goal often has a simpler route. Good suggestions get scheduled, though we cannot promise dates.
How do I get in touch?
The contact link sits in the About column of the footer. Please mention the tool name and page URL so we can reproduce the issue.
